Fairtrade Fortnight is heading into its second week. For those who read our two articles last week, you’ll now be aware of what the Fairtrade Foundation supports and how it is helping to fight against climate change for 2021.

What exactly is the problem Fairtrade are highlighting?
In a world that is dominated by multi-national organisations, smaller producers are being pushed aside and are forced to accept a lower price for their products including coffee beans, fruit and a wide range of materials.
To recap, the last 12 months have seen another long-standing problem cause even more of a headache for producers: climate change. This is arguably the most immediate issue they face, with rising temperatures and floods causing shrinking harvests and destroyed crops.
But because of the lower prices the farmers and workers generally receive for their goods, they are simply unable to fight back and keep their livelihoods safe.
With Covid-19 highlighting the innovative new ways we have all been able to stay connected, the Fairtrade Foundation is looking to utilise that connection and help us to see that we can all make a difference to our world.

In doing so, we are helping to fight the climate change disaster that is central to the efforts of Fairtrade Fortnight for 2021.
